Speaking Event at BVE 2012:
Chyron’s Paul Glasgow, vice president of EMEA sales, and Todd Martin, senior vice president, Strategic Solutions Group, will present “Cloud 2.0” during BVE’s newest seminar entitled “Demystifying the Cloud.” This one-day event on Wednesday, Feb. 15, will feature six different sessions examining today’s cloud-based technologies. Scheduled for 12 p.m., the Chyron presentation will address today’s popular cloud-based technologies in use across the broadcast and post-production communities. Specifically, the session will examine how today’s cloud-based graphics creation platforms can be integrated with leading editing and publishing programs — such as Apple® Final Cut Pro®, Adobe® Premiere® Pro, Adobe Photoshop®, and ENPS publishing software — to achieve more efficient broadcast productions.

BlueNet™ Graphics Creation and Playout System
This year at BVE 2012, Chyron will demonstrate BlueNet™, a comprehensive solution that fully addresses broadcasters’ requirements for streamlined end-to-end graphics workflows. BlueNet leverages Chyron’s acclaimed suite of graphics tools for ordering and graphics asset management, collaborative graphics creation, and real-time playout. Integration with Axis World Graphics, Chyron’s cutting-edge cloud-based services offering, extends the power of BlueNet workflows to speed even the most sophisticated graphics to air.

BlueNet minimizes the cycle time from creation to air, ensuring very fast news and sports workflows. Order management tools allow producer-driven content to move smoothly into a rundown, and management tools and easily accessible templates enable instant and efficient collaboration in preparing graphics.

Channel Box² Branding and Promo System
Chyron also will showcase its newly enhanced Channel Box². Channel Box² is a next-generation channel branding system that features 2D/3D design with a complete data acquisition toolset for all branding applications. Built on Chyron’s Lyric technology, Channel Box² allows users to access any data — RSS feeds, traffic, financial, weather, elections, tickers, promos, snipes, and more — and publish it on-air anywhere, anytime.

New Channel Box² software (v. 4.5) introduces a playlist sequencer that allows single traffic log events to play out multiple Channel Box² scenes. By automating these processes and reducing the operator workload, the Channel Box² streamlines the workflow and saves the broadcaster valuable time in creating quality broadcast graphics.

Axis World Graphics
Axis World Graphics is the world’s only cloud-based graphics creation system designed specifically for broadcasters. Axis World Graphics simplifies, streamlines, and facilitates the graphics creation process, enabling artists, reporters, production assistants, and news producers to create broadcast-quality graphics using their own graphics package. Combining award-winning technology and functionality, proven integration, and point-and-click customization, Axis World Graphics allows users to create templates in Chyron’s award-winning Lyric PRO 8 software, further streamlining integration within the broadcaster’s existing workflow or within Chyron’s BlueNet™ workflow.

Several new features have recently been introduced to the system, including fully integrated electronic order management, asset management, and integration with Final Cut Pro® video editing, all of which are designed for ease of use and maximum workflow efficiency. HyperX^3.1 On-Air Graphics System
The new HyperX^3.1 will also be displayed at BVE 2012. This new release of Chyron’s flagship on-air graphics system supports even faster real-time rendering, in turn enabling broadcasters to take even more 3D graphics and animations to air quickly. Like its predecessor, the HyperX^3.1 is ideal for demanding environments like live sports, news stations, and outside broadcast productions. This extremely fast, powerful, and easy-to-use platform features seamless creation-to-playout capability and real-time 2D/3D animation, and the system is 3D stereoscopic-ready.

The turnkey HyperX^3.1 is scalable to two independent channels and incorporates optional DVEs, clips, and Chyron’s award-winning Lyric PRO 8 advanced creation and playout software.

Immediately following the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the East Coast earlier this week, newsrooms across the United States used Chyron’s cloud-based Axis World Graphics system for instant creation of maps for breaking news segments. Within minutes of the quake, Axis World Graphics users created 15 maps illustrating activity, and within an hour, the total of static and animated maps created grew to 62. By 6 p.m. EDT, just over four hours after the earthquake struck, users had created 98 earthquake-related maps in Axis World Graphics, and by 10:30 p.m. EDT the graphics total reached 133.

MST SYSTEMS’ ability to work quickly and confidently with the Chyron platforms eliminated the need to rebuild and recheck all our graphics, which in turn made for a much simpler and more pleasant tournament.”

MOOV and MST SYSTEMS confirmed their Chyron-based graphics workflow at the Scottish Open prior to implementation for the larger Open Championship. Within this workflow, MOOV created the network’s graphics package and MST SYSTEMS turned those graphics into templates populating them with data ranging from scores, statistics, and standings, ensuring rapid time to air with Chyron HyperX³ systems.

MST SYSTEMS’ familiarity with the HyperX³ allowed the company to turn around graphics templates within just 24 hours. During the tournament, MOOV also used the HyperX³ systems to air headline sequences in which live video from a critical drive, putt, or other stroke were shown with a full-screen graphic in real time without requiring rendering.

Foxton joins Chyron having most recently led NBCUniversal’s newsroom systems department, which supported NBC News, msnbc, NBC Sports, Telemundo, and News Channel. While at NBCUniversal, he led the successful “ArtWorks” graphics asset management and workflow project and earlier headed up the graphics technology department for the Television Stations Division, taking on responsibility for the Division’s graphics creation, asset management, and playback technologies. Prior to working with NBC, Foxton managed the design and development of Artbox OMS, Proximity’s pioneering data-driven media workflow product. This product was deployed at NBC, CNN, MTV Networks, Tribune, Belo, and other television networks.

For his work at both NBC and Proximity, Foxton has won numerous awards related to leadership, innovation, and technical excellence in asset management. He holds a Bachelor of Computing Science degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, in Australia, as well as an Agile ScrumMaster Certification, and he has earned a Scientific Development and Technical Achievement Emmy® Award and the NBC Technical Innovation Award.
